Abstract

Background

Healthcare quality assessment is fundamental to ensuring effective, safe, patient-centered, and efficient healthcare delivery. Traditional quality assessment methods often rely on manual audits, paper-based records, and retrospective evaluations, which may limit timely decision-making. Digital tools such as Electronic Health Records (EHRs), Artificial Intelligence (AI), Clinical Decision Support Systems (CDSS), Big Data Analytics, Mobile Health (mHealth), and Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) have transformed quality monitoring and performance evaluation in healthcare systems.

Objective

This study evaluates the role of digital tools in healthcare quality assessment and examines their impact on clinical performance, patient outcomes, healthcare efficiency, and quality improvement initiatives.

Methods

A cross-sectional observational study was conducted among 620 healthcare professionals across tertiary hospitals, primary care centers, and specialty clinics. Data were collected through structured questionnaires and institutional quality reports. Statistical analyses included descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, and multiple regression models.

Results

Healthcare facilities utilizing advanced digital quality assessment tools demonstrated significantly higher quality performance scores, reduced medical errors, improved patient satisfaction, and enhanced clinical decision-making. AI-based monitoring systems and EHR-integrated quality dashboards showed the strongest positive association with healthcare quality indicators (p < 0.001).

Conclusion

Digital tools significantly enhance healthcare quality assessment by providing real-time monitoring, predictive analytics, automated reporting, and evidence-based decision support. Wider implementation and integration of digital quality systems can improve healthcare outcomes and operational efficiency globally.
